Comfort

One of the things about crafting for me is comfort.  Both in the finished product and what it does for me while I'm working on something.  Right now, I spend the vast majority of my crafting time on spinning.  Trust me, this is not a hardship, but I do miss being able to knit.  Or crochet.

I have deadlines staring at me which require me to keep spinning every day.  One of those deadlines is I am a vendor for NashYarnFest in March of 2025.  I see those raised eyebrows friends.  Yup, that is 17 weeks away.  But spinning is slow.  And I have big plans for this show.  REALLY big plans.  I mean MDK is an amazing company and this is their first fiber festival.  I applied on a whim, not expecting to be selected.  But I am one of their vendors.  ME!  My yarn is good, but I am a small fish in a big pond of amazing fiber artists.  But this show?  A big adventure for me.  And this means I literally can not take even one night "off" from spinning.  Which means the thing that brings me comfort is bringing me stress right now.  I see the humor there.  But right now I'm craving comfort.  This has been a turmoiled filled time for me.  I'm struggling.  I will keep showing up.  I know the peace is there, just deeper in the depths of my soul right now.  But it is there.  I will keep spinning.  I will fill my space with as much beauty as I can and I believe the joy will come back.  I've made some changes in my life that I think in the long run will be good.  Short term?  ya, that is hard.  For now I will do what I always do, I'll keep my eyes locked on moving forward and I will keep spinning.  And in 17 weeks I will have a booth filled with as much handspun yarn as I can make.

On a brighter note, I got a box of fiber from Ginny of FatCatKnits for NashYarnFest.  She created a stunning show colorway for me.  Typically I do a reel on Instagram and unpack all the fiber on that so everyone can see. Here is the kicker.  I'm not going to show what it looks like yet.  I have 5 pounds of fiber in an amazing colorway that I am spinning just for NashYarnFest.  My plan is to have handspun yarn as well as a few braids and batts in that show colorway so if you are a spinner you can make your own version of the yarn.

The holidays are coming up.  Enjoy time with family and friends.  Hold them close.  Give lots of hugs to them.  Laugh.  that is what I plan on doing.  While I spin.
