Dog days of summer

This summer has been a whirlwind.  The start of my fall fiber fests was in Fargo.  What an amazing show that was.  So many new friends.  Lots of yarn found a new home.  Which always results in a lovely conundrum.  I'm so happy when yarn I've spun finds a new home.  I hope that person enjoys working with my yarn.  I know how hard we all work on our projects, the time invested, and I always hope my yarn brings joy to the person who is using it.  But when I sell yarn, that means I need to spin MORE yarn.  Not truly a hardship or anything, but there is the time factor too.  Between Fargo and my next show, NCFF in Watertown, SD, I have/had 7 weeks.  That sounds like a long time.  But in spinning reality, that isn't a lot of time.  But I've made good use of my time.

Meet my new kit for Aeria. And if you have forgotten, this is my version of Aeria.

I think the blues/purples/greens/yellows will make stunning leaves against a white background.  So that kit is finished.

I now have four weeks to spin regular skeins for NCFF.  Actually it is only three weeks because I have some work travel coming up and my wheel is not travel friendly on a plane so that means it stays home.

This beautiful fiber is from Inglenook Fibers (a fabulous dyer!) and is truly stunning.  It has a slight glitter effect in it and will give such a gentle shimmer to the finished yarn.  These are two skeins that will work together.  I'm not going to ply them together, but think they are good companions but each can stand on their own.  One braid is a lovely combination of teals.  The bottom braid is a variegated skein with mauves, greys, and the same teal.

Here my basket is sitting with pre-drafted fiber that makes me want to run home and sit at my wheel.

I hope the summer has brought you joy.  And since I mentioned the dog days of summer, here is Margo's strategy for the upcoming cooler months.
